The 2026 enrollment process for the Abbot Fletcher Sailing School has begun with the acceptance of registrations beginning January 1st. If you are unsure as to the appropriate classes for your sailor, please see the Programs Section for descriptions. For issues with enrollment or general questions, you may email Sue Baker at AFSS@OBYC.org
Sailors enrolling for a two-week session receive a preferred program fee, which is highlighted in the enrollment form.
We can’t wait to see the kids on the water this summer!

Policies & Details
Junior Yacht Club Membership and related costs
All participants in the AFSS program will be classified as Junior Yacht Club Members, whether their family holds a membership or not. Junior Yacht Club Members will be required to follow all club policies while on premises. The required fee for this special classification of membership for summer youth sailors is highlighted on the enrollment form.
Enrollment policies
Please use our online form to complete all sailor information as soon as possible but no later than May 15, 2026. Enrollment is on a first-come first-served basis. We reserve the right to move your sailor to the waitlist if your payments or documents are not complete by the May 15 deadline.
Payment policy
When the enrollment form is received online, you will be sent an invoice via email from QuickBooks. This invoice may be paid online, in total, or just an initial $100 non-refundable deposit. All balances are due no later than May 15th, 2026. Note: If your requested session is already full at time of registration, your sailor will be placed on a waitlist. The $100 non-refundable deposit will still be invoiced. Enrollments submitted after May 15, 2026, must be paid in full at the time of invoice.
We prefer enrollment and payment to be processed online. If you need to pay by check, please print out this form and mail it along with your check for full payment to AFSS, PO Box 94, Orr’s Island, ME 04066. Make check payable to Orr’s-Bailey Yacht Club.
AFSS Refund Policy
A full refund, less the $100 non-refundable deposit, will be granted if request is made more than four (4) weeks prior to the program start date.
A 50% refund, less the $100 non-refundable deposit, will be granted if request is made less than four (4) weeks prior to the program start date but more than two (2) weeks before the program start date.
A 25% refund, less the $100 non-refundable deposit, will be granted if request is made less than two (2) weeks prior to the program start date but before the program start date.
No refunds will be granted if the program has started already, unless the vacancy is able to be filled with another sailor. A pro-rated refund dependent on the number of days attended will be issued.
No refund will be granted to any sailor who, after fair warning, is dismissed because of behavioral misconduct or violation of safety requirements.
In the case of significant extenuating circumstances (such as a documented medical condition), a pro-rated refund (less the $100 non-refundable deposit) will be issued.
Adjustments/cancellations
We recognize that sailors sometimes wish to add additional weeks once they have experienced the program. AFSS does our best to accommodate these changes on a first-come first-served basis. Please note that programs often fill up, so we cannot always accommodate these requests.
Transfers: Families may be able to transfer their sailor(s) to another available session at no cost prior to the start of the program, depending on available space.
